Poker Blog reborn

For starters, I’d like to welcome everyone – OPC members (both of new and the “old salts” relocating from the old “Rayz Leaderboard” days (sweet, sweet memories)…  Also, a shout out to my fellow former BPT’ers, all past, present and future Poker Pubbers, and everyone else out there – welcome to the new home of the Poker Pub.

It’s been a while (WELL over a year) since my last post of substance.  Today, I’m here to say that the Poker Pub is open for business – beer flowing, posts writing, chips flying. Given this is my first substantial post, let’s set the expectations now…

First, some changes you’ll notice for Poker Pub v3.1:

1.  I intend to use speel chek spell check.  In Pub 1.0, spell check was grossly under utilized never used,

2.  I intend to proofread my posts.

3.  This incarnation of the Poker Pub will be more about strategy and providing editorial commentary on all things poker and less about pimping (I’ll leave the OPC News Blog and the OPC Forum for such things).

Poker Pub future contents

1.  What the hell I’ve been doing for the last two or so years,

2.  Extensive strategy discussion (i.e. – more on the popular endgame series),

3.  A possible return of the Friday Night Mailbag,

4.  (Long overdue) Stories from Australia,

5.  Stories from the felt.

Poker Blog expectations

1.  At least two substantial posts per week,

2.  Informative, entertaining posts,

3.  The opportunity to guide and influence my posting plans (i.e. – suggest a topic of interest),

4.  An updated, semi-edited archive (over time) from the original Poker Pub (I’ve had issues importing the original Poker Pub Blog here.  Thankfully, I had played around with the idea of relocation of the Pub to a WordPress platform back in 2006, and utilized that to get a foundation).

Why the Online Poker Circuit and not the old Rayz site?

The OPC brand, in my opinion, provides me with a better name/theme to support my vision.  I’ll get into the vision of the OPC in a later post.  Rayz, in reflection, was to gimmicky.  I’m all for gimmicks, however, this time around, I want the mission, the vision, and the execution to all be transparent.  The OPC name and brand allows for such a thing, in my opinion.  Additionally, breaking free from the Rayz domain also symbolizes a fresh start, a new beginning if you will.

In closing, the thing I missed the most during my extended absence was writing.  Writing has always helped me blow off steam, reflect, and situate or even organize my thoughts.  Rest assured, my thoughts are far from organized!  I look forward to writing more and becoming reacquainted with my old friends and making some new ones as well!
